Why did I choose this name for my website?
Some names are just labels. Others are like a key you need to find. CouleurX is exactly that kind of name. I wanted a name with a code inside!
🎨 Couleur — the language of color, in French
Couleur means color – but I didn’t choose the French word by accident. France is a worldwide symbol of art – the country of the Impressionists, of aesthetic revolutions, of the freedom to create. A place where color is not just technique, but emotion, history, and signature.
✖️ X — more than a graphic mark
“X” is not just a design element. It is a letter, a symbol, a core. It is the first letter of my name – Христина (Christina) and at the same time, a symbol rich in layers of meaning:
✝️ X as Christ
In early Christianity, “X” (Chi) was used as an abbreviation for Christ (Χριστός) – a sign of faith, light, and inner awakening. My connection with sacred art and iconography finds a quiet but powerful reflection in this symbol.
🏴☠️ X as Treasure
From pirate maps to spiritual treasures: “X marks the spot” – the sign that shows where the gold is hidden. In CouleurX, that treasure is emotion, meaning, imagination – delivered through color.
♾️ X as a Crossroads
“X” is an intersection. A connection. A place where paths, people, and cultures meet. CouleurX is the crossroads between tradition and innovation, between the spiritual and the modern, between the personal and the universal.
🔣 X as a Variable and Possibility
In mathematics, “X” stands for the unknown – the thing yet to be discovered. In my world, it’s an open space where each new painting adds new value and a new story.
🔱 X = Alpha + Omega
This symbol unites beginning and end, forming a sense of wholeness. CouleurX is everything between the first brushstroke and the final emotion that leaves an imprint on the viewer.
🧩 X as Freedom
But “X” is also a symbol of freedom. The freedom to choose your own path. To be both this and that, without fitting into a single box. X is not a limit – it is an open possibility.
🛡️ X = Overcoming and Victory (Saltire)
As noted in heraldry, the symbol “X” – or saltire – represents overcoming obstacles. It was displayed on the shields of warriors who had successfully broken through enemy city walls – those who crossed barriers and claimed victory. “X” is a sign of human strength to go beyond limits, both earthly and spiritual.
💋 X as Kiss and Signature
A day or two after making my website CouleurX public, I realized it had launched on International Kissing Day. That’s when I saw another layer in the “X” symbol. In the Middle Ages, people who couldn’t write signed with an “X” and kissed it to express trust, reverence, and spiritual connection. “X” meant both a kiss and a vow. As people say: “Nothing is truly accidental.”
💫 CouleurX is my treasure in color
Made of words charged with meaning, this name is my invitation. An invitation to you – to walk through the portal of color and discover treasures of form, symbols, and light. And to make your own choice along the way.
